The Chassis
The chassis is the most visible portion of any type of carpet cleaner. This housing is meant to protect delicate internal parts while still providing the operator with a user-friendly edge. A set of wheels will be mounted on the bottom of the chassis.
These can be found in a parallel arrangement or they might be present as castor wheels (depending upon the model of cleaner). Other important accessories mounted to the chassis include the controls, the power cord, the handle, and the steering mechanism.
Internal Parts and Mechanisms
The true “heartbeat” of any industrial carpet cleaner is associated with its internal parts. Of course, the motor is the most important driving mechanism and depending upon the model, it is available in a number of different horsepower configurations.
Valves and cylinders are also housed within the chassis; providing suction power as well cleaning agents to the surface below. While storage tanks will normally be contained inside of the chassis, these can be removed when they need to be filled or cleaned.
Hoses and Attachments
Many industrial cleaners are provided with extendable hoses in order to access hard-to-reach areas. There are also times when these hoses can be detached in the event that the unit will be addressing open spaces.
Accessories such as different types of scrubber heads can be placed on the end of the hose so that tight dimensions can be accommodated. These attachments will normally be stored on the exterior of the unit for easy access.
