COVID-19: Working from home during coronavirus

COVID-19 – Tips for home working

At the moment it is very hard to escape any news about the coronavirus (COVID-19).

So Lets take a look at some tips and techniques for maximizing your productivity whilst working from home.

Working from home can be brilliant  –  Your own surroundings, pop the kettle on  whenever you want, got your own private bathroom. However, if you’re not used to working remotely then being away from your normal set up at the office can feel disconcerting. I wanted to share with you some tips I go by since working from home.

Tip 1: – Your work space

Whether you’re in the office or at home, having a desk set up that works for you is key.

Try to create a small area at home that’s a dedicated space for work. This will not only help you stay in the right frame of mind but will also create separation between your work and home life. Save your sofa, for the end of the day when you need to switch off and you can relax in your cosy space.

“I have made a dedicated work spot in my home – I have popped a desk at the back of my living room with a lovely looking chair, printer and my laptop. Once I am done working remotely I just leave that space and get back to home life.”

Tip 2: Have your own routine

Now that you’re not in the office, you may have to change your routine slightly.

Are you used to background noise, you may want to create a playlist you can work to. Getting up like you would do for a normal working day may help your frame of mind.

If you’re struggling to focus, why not try going for a walk clear your mind. get back and try again. Get yourself into a working mindset by sticking to as much of your normal routine as possible.

“At the moment I have my 3 year old daughter home with me whilst I work but I still try stick to the waking up having my breakfast (Do the mornings register – my daughters routine at the moment aha) Do my work and after dinner we have a walk to clear our minds and refresh us for the afternoon which is my 3rd tip.”

Tip 3: Move Around

At this time, we don’t know how long this pandemic will last and chances are we will be home longer than we want. So put some movement in your day, in the office you may be up and down getting what you need where as at home its all in your work space. So go for a walk on your dinner, Move around a bit clean the kitchen for 10 get some movement in.

Tip 4: Give yourself a break

When working from home, plan breaks into your day and don’t take lunch at your desk. If you can, a midday change of scenery and stretch of the legs can do wonders for your afternoon happiness levels.

Also have a set time you finish everyday too, turn off the laptop and turn off any work-related notifications outside of those hours.

Tip 5:  Be prepared for you and the kids

Lots of us are having to adjust to new routines right now like working parents, working from home whilst entertaining, feeding and teaching children takes juggling to a whole new level!

We will all be facing different challenges, with different ages of family member’s.  One thing that can help is to prepare is having a set of activities laid out so that you have a source of inspiration when the dreaded “I’m bored” words pop up.

“I’ve been dividing my time between the office and entertaining /learning my daughter over the past few weeks. I’m defiantly enjoying having my daughter as my work buddy.. Ben and Holly and chocolate ice lollies seem to do the trick when I have ran out of ideas to entertain whilst working!” Joe Wicks P.E class at am seems to help a great deal too”

If you’re not used to working from home, don’t be to hard on your self. It might take a few days for you to find your working rhythm, but it will happen so remember to be kind, stay home and stay safe.

Top 3 tips on a good winter weekend clean

Winter Weekend Clean

On weekends we love to have a good clean of our homes ready for the week to come so let’s help you enjoy a welcoming cosy home this winter, we have put together 3 top winter cleaning tips for you.

Entrance to winter

I’m sure you all use the line “shoes off at the door!”

But this is one of the biggest culprit for bringing dirt into the house!

Preparing your entrance with just a few items:

  • Outdoor door mat – By leaving a mat just outside your front door, people will give there shoes a quick shuffle before coming in. Preventing any leaves, chunks of mud ect from entering the house.

  • Indoor door mat – Just another shuffle once your in doesn’t hurt does it??….

  • Shoe rack – it can be a good idea to leave a shoe rack in the entrance. This way, when people come in they will be more inclined to remove their shoes and in turn keep your floors clean.

  •  Candle – Nothing says welcome than a lovely scented candle.

Moving on to the lounge – I call this my relaxing area

Vacuum – It can be easy to run the vacuum over the floor and call it a day, forgetting all the nooks and crannies! Once a month move the furniture and get the hoover under there, in between objects and on top of shelf’s.

And ay you may even find something you’ve lost ; £10 note, that necklace you could never find!

Lovely looking furniture

We spend the biggest percentage of our socializing time chilling on the sofa watching Corrie, Love Island… online shopping or having a good wine and chat to your friends/family.

So why do we we not clean the sofa as often as we should?

The main reason is we forget they need cleaning.

To keep your lounge all cosy, clean and inviting, it’s key to refresh the sofa, cushions.

Don’t be shy to give them cushions a good shake and chop, then a good tip to keep them smelling lovely and fresh, is by putting a dryer sheet in the pillow cases. This works a treat to keep them smelling fresh

The Heart Of The Home

People say money can’t buy happiness. They Lie. Money buys Coffee, Coffee makes Me Happy!

Let’s get the coffee pot out…

Keeping it looking clean and new for when your friends and family are around – Fill the pot with ice (about a quarter), squeeze in juice from a half of lemon, and drizzle two tablespoons of coarse salt. Keep swirling the pot for a few minutes and, when you finally rinse it, the water will wash away all the coffee traces.

“Leave everything a little better than you found it”….

The Kitchen sick.. Nothing feels as satisfying as a bright clean fresh smelling kitchen sick does it?

You need a few essentials to get your sink sparkling, 1. A scrub daddy sponge, 2. The pink stuff and some warm water. give your kitchen sick a clean over with some warm water, then scrub your sink with your scrub daddy and the pink stuff. Leave on for 2 minute and wipe clean.

Lastly to get that lovely welcoming scent fill the sink with some warm not boiling water and add a cap full of zoflora and give them sides a good wipe down.

Now you have peace of mind when it comes to spending time with friends and family, which is what matters the most.

Hmm…. Walk behind or ride on machines?

Walk behind or Ride on’s?

Let’s take a look at both options so that even the most challenging of tasks can be completed within a timely fashion.

Ride-On Floor Cleaning Equipment…

If we were going to go for the ride-on sweeper or scrubber dryer it would be because we have a large facility to clean. Ride-on sweepers and scrubbers dryer allow operators to make the most of every shift – covering large areas with as little effort and less time.

Ride-on floor cleaning machines offer a 64 percent increase in productivity vs the walk-behind machines.

And of course another big thing when you look at machines to buy or hire. You look at the cost. Cost of a ride-on vs a walk-behind model can typically be recouped from labor savings in three to six months. If you would like more information on our prices when hiring or buying a cleaning machine. Please feel free to call us and we will be more than happy to help.

Walk-Behind Sweeper or Scrubber…

When looking at a walk behind you can see straight away that they are smaller than your ride on’s.

So If the area that is been maintained is smaller and/or includes narrow spaces, doorways or objects. A walk-behind machine would be the right choice, This sort of machine makes getting into them tight spaces easier. Walk-behind Scrubber dryer or sweeper machines are also better for areas with  ramps. Ride-on floor machines tend to be bulkier and therefore, they are not suited for dealing with cramped locations.  Go to our website for more information on our walk behind machines. We will not disappoint you on the quality and quantity of the equipment we have to offer.

When looking at sizes..

It is very important to take into consideration of the size of area you will be cleaning, as well as the internal capacity.

At CLFloorcare we do offer both ride on and walk behind machines.

If you would like to learn more about what we have to offer on these machines contact a customer service representative today.

Importance of Industrial Vacuum Cleaning

Importance of Industrial Vacuum Cleaning

Importance of Industrial Vacuum Cleaning

Industrial vacuum cleaning should be done regularly to keep the environment clean. There are several reasons why you should consider vacuum cleaning in addition to regular floor cleaning options. Here are some reasons why it is important.

Vacuuming Stops the Spread of Mould

Parts of the workshop or the production line that get wet regularly harbour the conditions that are conducive for the growth of mould. Mould can spread fast in damp conditions. However, it can stay dormant for along period if the conditions are not good. Those spores stay on the floor waiting for the right conditions to grow again. Vacuuming gets rid of any spores that may be on the floor.

Disrupts the Breeding Grounds for Bacteria

Office carpets and carpeted pathways are perfect grounds for the breeding of bacteria. They may look clean but may hide nasty bacteria within the fibres. These bacteria may lead to a variety of illnesses to workers at the premises. When you vacuum the office regularly, you prevent the bacteria from breeding and spreading to other parts of the office or premises.

Improved Air Quality

Industrial vacuum cleaning helps improve the quality of air in the workplace. Much of the small particles that float in the air eventually fall to the floor. Regular cleaning is not able to remove all the particles. The particles are then launched into the air and lead to poor air quality. This is also true or any smoke particles. HEPA certified vacuum cleaners are able to pick even the tiniest of the dirt particles on the floor. You not only get a clean floor but also clean air which reduces chances of getting occupational illnesses.

Prevents a Musty Smell

With time, a combination of fungus and bacteria produces a musty smell. In large areas without proper aeration, the musty smell may be too much such that it becomes uncomfortable to stay in the room. Industrial vacuum cleaners act as natural air fresheners. Once floors and carpets are vacuumed regularly, the pathogens do not get a chance to break down particles on the surface and produce the musty smell.

Get Rid of Allergens

Allergens may be anything from pollen grains that get into the office space to particles produced in the course of production activities.

These particles may cause allergic reactions in some workers with moderate to severe symptoms. Industrial vacuum cleaners get rid of any potential allergens that may be in the internal working spaces. The result is clean, fresh-smelling working spaces.

At C L Floorcare, we sell, repair and service industrial vacuums, if you are looking for more information on these types of machines. Please fill out our contact form and one of our team will get back to you with the answers.
